Kathryn Sneed

KathrynHi, my name is Kathryn and I am 25 years old. I am a military wife married to my wonderful husband, Jonathan and we are currently stationed at Robins Air Force Base in Georgia. Jonathan joined the Air Force 5 months before we got married in December of 2008. He just finished his first deployment in May 2012 and even though it was a roller coaster ride, God’s grace got us through. Even though military life can be hard, we enjoy being a military family and hope to remain so for the next 16 years of his career.

Several months after we were married, we decided to try for a baby and in July of 2009, I found out I was pregnant only to miscarry the baby later that same day. The Lord blessed us however, because only a few months later in October 2009 I found out I was pregnant again. In June 2010, my little boy, Adam was born. In 2012, during my husband’s deployment I found out that our little boy has Autism and SPD. Raising a child with special needs can sometimes be hard, but we are fighting to get him the help that he needs. I love him so much and he is a huge blessings in my life. He has taught me more things than I ever imagined I would learn. I love being a mother and watching him grow each day and I can only pray that I can be a great example to him as he grows up.

My life has not always been easy, I come from a divorced home and was very bitter about it growing up. I also deal with several health problems which tend to get in the way sometimes. Through all this, God has been with me every step of the way. Even when I thought He had given up on me, He was always there.  I was saved when I was 5 years old, grew up in a Christian home and Christian school, but being a Christian isn’t always easy. I am not perfect, but I am learning and growing each and every day and I do my best to do what is right. Jesus is the most important part of my life and without Him I would be lost.

In my spare time I love spending time with my family, going on date nights with my husband, making new friends, reading a good book, and writing!  Join me over at Singing Through The Rain!

  2. I can so relate to what you shared in your “Faithful Parenting” post. I have eight children, four of them with special needs; one with Asperger’s Syndrome, one with learning disabilities, one with SPD, anxiety, and speech delay, and one with SPD, CP, a speech delay, eating difficulties and developmental delays secondary to the CP. My youngest daughter (who is 3) is the one who challenges me the most. She has major meltdowns; her sensory issues can make getting dressed or buckling her into her car seat traumatic. I get so tired.

Gal 6:9 is my favorite parenting verse, with or without special children. The admonition not to grow weary, in light of such utter exhaustion, is challenging to be sure. But, I’ve experienced the harvest with my older children. And that gives me hope. I have also seen God carry me through dark nights and agonizingly long days by His grace & strength.

May God give you the grace and wisdom to recognize His strength carrying you when you need it most, and bless you as you embrace the journey He has called you to.

      Hi Marchauna!,
Thank you so much for the sweet comment! I can relate to a lot of what you are saying as mine has Autism, SPD, and Feeding Disorder as well as multiple health issues and allergies. I pray that God will give you strength for each and every day as you continue working for Him. Thank you for your encouragement as well, it is a blessing.
